Terms of service
Last updated 15 October 2026
These terms apply when you use CQL, the database client for macOS, or pay for CQL Pro. CQL is sold by Khairul, a sole proprietor in Malaysia, referred to here as “we”. If you use CQL, you agree to these terms.
The app
The database client is free and works without an account. CQL Pro is a paid subscription that adds the AI assistant, the MCP server, ERD diagrams and OpenVPN. You may use CQL on Macs you own or control. Do not resell CQL, and do not try to get around its licence checks.
Your account
You sign in with Google. You are responsible for that Google account and for what is done with your CQL account.
CQL Pro subscriptions
- Pro is billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through Stripe. The price, and any tax that applies, is shown at checkout before you pay.
- Your subscription renews automatically until you cancel it.
- A Pro subscription, or a trial, can be used on up to 3 Macs at a time. A Mac you stop using frees its place 30 days after you last used it, or straight away if you remove it from your account in the app.
- New accounts get a free trial when checkout offers one. Free trial is once per person and per card; if a card was already used for a trial, billing starts immediately. Otherwise your first charge happens when the trial ends; cancel before then and you will not be charged.
- You can cancel at any time in the app, under Settings → Plan & account → Manage subscription. This opens Stripe’s customer portal. Pro stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Monthly payments are not refunded. An annual plan can be refunded in full within 14 days of its first charge; annual renewals are not refunded. Charges caused by our mistake are always refunded. The details are in our Refund policy.
- If we change the price, we will tell you before the new price applies to your next renewal.
Your databases and AI providers
CQL connects to the databases you configure and runs the commands you, or the AI assistant you enable, give it. That includes commands that change or delete data. Keep your own backups, and review what the assistant proposes before you run it.
AI features use your own provider account and API key. That provider bills you for usage under its own terms.
No warranty, and limits on our liability
We work hard to make CQL reliable, but we provide it “as is”. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, lost profits or indirect losses. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Malaysian consumer law.
Ending these terms
You can stop using CQL at any time. We may suspend or close an account that abuses the service, for example by attacking it, sharing an account to get around licensing, or making fraudulent payments.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If a change materially affects paying customers, we will tell them before it takes effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, and the courts of Malaysia decide any dispute.
